Simple and Spicy Tomato Coconut Chutney For Idly and Dosa/lallyrecipes |
Tomatoes : 4
Green chillies : 5
Fresh grated coconut : 1/4 cup
Garlic cloves : 4
Salt : as required
Oil : 2 tbsp
For tempering/tadka
Urad dal : 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds : 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds : 1/2 tsp
Hing : pinch
Oil : 1 tsp
Curry leaves Few
Directions
Cut tomatoes into medium sized pieces.
Take a kadai and heat a tbsp of oil on low flame.
Add the green chillies and cook for a minute. Add tomatoes.
Add little salt which helps tomatoes get softer and helps to cook fast.
Cook covered till the tomatoes are soft and mushy. Switch off the flame .
When cooled, grind the cooked mixture along with coconut and garlic cloves in a mixer grinder.
Now transfer to a serving bowl.
Heat a tsp of oil in a pan, add hing, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and urad dal, Curry leaves. When the seeds splutter switch off the stove and pour it on to the chutney.
Serve with dosa or idly.
