How to make Easy Tomato Rasam Recipe
Ingredients:
1/3 cup tuar dal
8 cups water
2¼ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
½ tsp heeng powder
¼ cup chopped cilantro
4-5 curry leaves
1 tsp vegetable oil
1 tsp black mustard seeds
1 pack knorr tomato soup
1 tbsp tamarind pulp
Method:
1. Rinse and drain the dal. Heat a large pot over medium heat and add the dal, 4 cups of water, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix to combine and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and cover pot. Cook until dal is tender (about 20 minutes).
2. When dal is tender, add remaining 4 cups water, knorr tomato soup powder, cilantro, and mix to combine. Stir well and keep pot uncovered and at a low simmer.
3. Heat a separate small pan over medium heat and add oil, curry leaves and mustard seeds. When mustard seeds pop add the heeng, remove from heat and add to the simmering dal.
4. Continue to simmer the Rasam with the lid off until dal is completely soft; add tamarind pulp and cook for about another 5-6 minutes.
