Ingredients
2 cups of Moong dhal
1/2 cup raw rice
Red chillies – 8 Nos (green chillies can also be used)
1 heapful of salt ( 1tsp.)
Asofoetida – 1/2 tsp
Ginger –1 inch long
Curry leaves 2 strands
Coriander ½ cup chopped
1 cup finely chopped onion
Directions
Soak the rice and the mong dhal for 2 hour together
Drain the water and grind the dhal and rice into smooth batter along with chillies , asafoetida and ginger. Only then you will get a very crispy pesarattu.
Add the finely chopped coriander , curry leaves and onion.
Heat a tava (griddle) and grease it generously. Now, pour one ladleful of batter on the tava (griddle) and roast both sides till it becomes golden in color.
Infact grinding a piece of onion along with moong dhal enhances the flavour of pesarattu.
If you are a vegetable lover you can even add tomato, carrot and capsicum while preparing the batter. Serve it with coconut-ginger chutney.
